Aug 3rd, 2010Niagara Falls Trip
Niagara Falls is a very popular place visited by millions of tourists each year. The falls are a world wonder and they attract a lot of curious spectators. Also, many couples go there for their honeymoon and they come from across the world. The main attraction is the cascade. The six million cubic feet of water that stumble on the rocky crest just between US and Canada are amazing.
Besides the cascade, the area is full of great small towns and man made attractions like the Aquarium of Niagara that give both parents and children a great alternative for fun.
Besides going to the Falls, visitors can also go fishing, do some hiking, biking, or camping in the big Niagara Falls State Park. Also, the whole story about the place is at the Daredevil Museum.
And if you want to know more about the geology and the history of the place, spend some time during your Niagara Falls trip to visit the Schoellkopf Museum. Besides the cascade, you can also go dine somewhere. There are places for every type of budget. You will find something to amuse you for sure and you will appreciate the getaway.
The Niagara Falls is created by the Niagara River, that runs between Canada, Ontario and US, New York. The cascade measures about 17 miles (27 km) if you measure north-northwest of Buffalo, New York and it measures 75 miles (120 km) just south-southeast of Toronto.
Niagara Falls has two big sections separated by the Goat Island: the Horseshoe Falls, located mostly in Canada and the American Falls on the US side.
There is a third, called Bridal Veil Falls on the American side, but they are much smaller.
Niagara Falls has been created when the glaciers receded just when the Wisconsin glaciations ended.
Each minutes, about six million cubic feet (168,000 m³) of water runs over the big crest and goes down.
